MAST launches the ‘Water Tower’ Pavilion at the Danish Architecture Centre
MAST´s ‘Water Tower’ pavilion at the centre of new exhibition at the Danish Architecture Centre
MAST designed and constructed a 1:1 pavilion for the new exhibition `Water is coming´ at BLOX in Copenhagen. The pavilion presents a vision of living with climate change and working with resources from the sea, developing MAST´s goal to work with water to create more adaptable, resilient and liveable built environments. The project works to engage the public to think about a future living with water rather than working against it.
The 5m high structure, inspired by historic wooden beacons showcases the architectural potential of marine materials. The pavilion is clad with locally-sourced eelgrass cladding produced by Søuld along with Douglas fir timber and a new floatation system from recycled foam glass aggregate. Visitors are invited to explore the structure and sit on a central plinth listening to a soundscape with visions of daily life on water.
The exhibition runs until March 2025
