The Wallpaper* Architects’ Directory is an annual listing of the best and most promising young practices, showcasing inspiring work from around the world. The international index was conceived in 2000 spotlighting emerging architectural talent. MAST is among the 20 studios from around the world to be included in the 2024 Directory annual round-up as an exciting young practice.

'We are motivated by the amazing potential that comes from reconnecting with water, as we have seen the amazing effect that even small improvements to water access and quality can produce in cities,' Blecher explains in conversation with Jens H Jensen. Specialising in architecture on or near water, MAST works across scales ‘on a mission to improve the relationship between the city and the sea’. Multiple small projects around Copenhagen Harbour invite tourists and locals alike to enjoy the sea, and larger projects breathe new life into landscapes such as the sand quarry outside Milan and Salinas Portugal, transforming an abandoned salt production facility.
